The label
Children do not need more clothes. They need clothes that survive being a child.
We started this because of a drawer. It was full, and almost nothing in it worked — swim shorts with a scratchy liner, t-shirts with necks too tight to pull over a head without a negotiation, shorts that split at the seat in a fortnight. All of it bought new, most of it worn a handful of times.
So we make nine pieces. One collection a year, restocked rather than replaced, in sizes one to twelve. Cotton grown and spun in Java, everything cut and sewn within an hour of our studio in Ubud by a workshop of eleven people we know by name and pay above the Bali minimum.
Every decision is made against a short list. Can a five-year-old get it on alone? Does the neck open wide enough? Will it dry before the drive home? Does it survive fifty washes? If the answer is no, it does not get made.
On sizing, and on price
We size by height rather than age, because children of the same age are routinely two sizes apart and a birthday tells you almost nothing. Hems are cut deep so a piece bought a size up still looks intentional, and buys you another season.
Delivery is free anywhere in Indonesia and the freight is already carried in the price. We sell directly, with no wholesale margin on top — which is how a garment this well made sits where it does.
These are built to reach a second child. If something fails before it should, tell us and we will put it right.
